PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file transfer method which enables computer terminals connected to the same LAN to transmit and receive a file directly and securely. SOLUTION: The file transfer method for transferring a file between terminals connected to the same network includes a terminal detecting step of detecting a reception side terminal by a transmission side terminal, a selecting step of informing a user of a list of detected reception side terminals and making the user select which reception side terminal is to be made a forwarding destination, and which file is to be transferred, by the transmission side terminal, a file transferring step of transmitting the selected file and its management information to the forwarding destination by the transmission side terminal and for storage of the file and the management information in a hidden shared folder of the reception side terminal indicated by the forwarding destination, and a file storing step of extracting the file and its management information stored in the hidden shared folder, specifying a storage area for storing the file based on the management information and storing the file in the specified storage area by the reception side terminal.
