PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molten material sampling method which enables the stable sampling of a sample without a failure by preventing mixing with slag, and a molten material sampling device. SOLUTION: The temperature distribution state of the surface of the molten material in a container is photographed to capture the photographed image, the captured measuring image of the surface of the molten material is subjected to image processing to calculate the temperature distribution of the surface of the molten material, a temperature maximum point is further searched, the three-dimensional position in the molten material which should be sampled by a sampling holder is operated from the searched temperature maximum point on the image and an operation order is sent to the drive system of a top positioning device so that the tip of the sampling holder can move to the operated tip position.
