PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive fastening mechanism of a roof box having adaptability to various kinds of cross bars and facilitating mounting work on the cross bars. SOLUTION: A fastening means of the roof box has an arm member having an abutting part on a lower surface of the cross bar, a distance adjusting means for adjusting a distance between the arm member and a bottom of the roof box, and a hole into which the arm member provided on the bottom of the roof box can be inserted. The distance adjusting means has a vertical position adjusting mechanism at an end on one side of the arm member arranged in the roof box and a vertical position adjusting mechanism at an end at the other side of the arm member. By an operation on the one side of the arm member at an inside position of at least the roof box, the end at the other side of the arm member is inserted into a hole at one side provided on a bottom surface of the roof box from the above toward a lower side, and subsequently the end is passed through a lower side of the cross bar, and the end is inserted into a hole at the other side on the bottom of the roof box from a lower side toward above.
