摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning method of an electromagnetic conversion element which further enhances positioning accuracy. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A servo clock changing in synchronization with change in rotation angle of a recording medium is counted for each servo sector. Magnetic information is read from spiral servo patterns with an electromagnetic conversion element. A position of a spiral servo pattern is specified on the circumferential line based on the read magnetic information. The count value of the servo clock is correlated with the specified position. The position of the electromagnetic conversion element is radially specified based on the correlated count value and counting of the servo clock. The electromagnetic conversion element is positioned based on the positions. In the positioning method, a synchronous mark formed at intervals equivalent to the track width in positioning at spiral servo pattern is not used. Disturbance of a reproduction signal i.e., noise is suppressed. Positioning accuracy of the electromagnetic conversion element is improved. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
