<p>The calculation of phase pre-integration is simplified to reduce the scale of the digital calculation circuit. An optical electric field transmitter comprises a light source, one or more D/A converters and an optical electric field modulator. The optical electric field transmitter further comprises: a complex information multilevel signal generating circuit that converts information signals, which are input at predetermined time intervals and each of which consists of a plurality of bits, to complex multilevel information signals and outputs these complex multilevel information signals; and a phase pre-integrating circuit that receives complex multilevel information signals obtained by sampling, at the predetermined time intervals, the complex multilevel information signals outputted by the complex information multilevel signal generating circuit and that outputs phase pre-integration complex information obtained by integrating the phase components of the received complex multilevel information signals in advance at predetermined time intervals. Each of the phase angles of the complex signal points of the complex information signals exhibits one of integral multiples of the value obtained by dividing 360 degrees by a positive integer N. Each of the amplitude values of the complex signal points of the complex information signals is one of positive integers M. The total number of the possible complex signal points of the complex information signals is less than the product of N and M.</p> |
