Provided is a display device, which is freed, even if a circuit in a shift register is constituted by using thin film transistors of relatively large off-leaks, from any malfunction or display failure, as might otherwise be caused by those off-leaks.  Each bistable circuit constituting the shift register comprises a thin film transistor (MI) for raising the potential of an output terminal (45) on the basis of a first clock, a thin film transistor (MN) for lowering the potential of the output terminal (45), a thin film transistor (MB) for raising the potential of a region (netA) connected with the gate terminal of the thin film transistor (MI), on the basis of a starting signal (S), thin film transistors (ML and ME1) for lowering the potential of the region (netA), a capacitor (Cap2) for raising the potential of a region (netB) connected with the gate terminal of the thin film transistor (ME1), and a thin film transistor (MJ) for lowering the potential of the region (netB).
