PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a returnable and storing box cold-keeping the item to be cold-kept or warm-keeping the item to be warm-kept for a long term by a simple means, conveying the item to be cold-kept or the item to be warm-kept from a production district to a distant place as it is, and to provide a method of cold-keeping the item to be cold-kept or warm-keeping the item to be warm-kept. SOLUTION: In the returnable and storing box, the inside of a case body 1 of a heat-insulating material is demarcated into an upper chamber 3 and a lower chamber 4 by a partition plate 2 of a heat-insulating material. A storage medium 5a or a thermal storage medium is accommodated in the upper chamber 3, and the item to be cold-kept or the item 6 to be warm-kept is accommodated in the lower chamber 4.
