PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound roller solving the problem of wear of a metal flange member caused by contact of a rolled material not only with a ceramic roller member but also with the metal flange member when the rolled material is conveyed on a conventional compound roller of a ceramic roller member and metal, and preventing the cracks and damage of the ceramic roller member due to the collision of the front end of the rolled material against a step that occurs between the ceramic member and the metal member. SOLUTION: In this compound roller 1, the cylindrical ceramic roller member 2 is fitted in a cylindrical metal base member 3 with inclination on one side, and the ceramic roller member 2 is fixed from the other end by a pressing metal 5 and a metal flange 6 with a diameter smaller than that of the ceramic roller member 2.
