PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus, an information processing method, a program, and an information processing system for communicating information included in content data to a user and supporting playback of the content data from a specific playback start position. SOLUTION: The information processing apparatus 100 includes: a storage part 102 for storing content data; an index item generation part 120 for detecting a telop, contained in the content data, on the basis of the content data and generates index item information which records information about the detected telop in association with information on a playback start position of the content data corresponding to the detected telop; and an index list content managing part 122 for generating an index list content which can playback the content data from the playback start position of the corresponding content data, when the content data include an index selectable by the user, on the basis of the index item information and the index is selected.
