<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a function of reducing the consumption of toner, wherein the printed result obtained by reducing the consumption of toner is prevented from getting useless for a user. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a printing density setting function (S924) for setting printing density when printing image data; preview image display functions (S912, S914, and S928) for displaying a preview image of the image data printed in the printing density set by the printing density setting function; and an image forming function (S920) for forming a printed matter in the same printing density as the preview image displayed by the preview image display function.
