<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To edit content data with a restriction on the number of copies in consideration of set chapters. Ž<P>SOLUTION: For a chapter group including chapters Chp#2, Chp#3, and Chp#4, all including copy request sections, the editing device calculates the start time difference ΔTs and the end time difference ΔTe between the chapter group and the copy request section, and compares them with thresholds. When ΔTs and ΔTe are smaller than the thresholds, respectively, the permitted number of copies is changed for the chapter group including the copy request section. When ΔTs and ΔTe are larger than the thresholds, respectively, the chapters are divided at the start time (A) and the end time (B) of the copy request section, and the permitted number of copies is changed for the chapter group included in the copy request section by chapter division.
