<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate understanding of a display while exceeding capability expressed by an electronic view finder. <P>SOLUTION: A brightness value setting section 42a sets a brightness value for adjusting brightness of an input video signal. Addition processing for adding the brightness value set by the brightness value setting section to an video signal is performed to display the added video signal. In this case, a comparator 45 compares the set brightness value with a reference value.
