PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device which is adjusted to performance suitable for an access situation, and a control method thereof. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk device for accessing a disk by a head according to a command from a computer includes a communication section for receiving a command from the computer, an information generation section for generating first piece of information indicating the access situation of the disk based on the command received by the communication module, and a control section for controlling the driving speed of at least one of the head and the disk based on the first piece of information generated by the information generation section.
