PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a displacement detection device for a swash plate type piston pump simply and accurately forming a displacement detection means for a control piston. SOLUTION: The swash plate type piston pump is composed to control reciprocating motion of a plurality of pistons by changing inclination angle of a swash plate by the control piston 1 operated by a control valve, detect displacement of the control piston by a displacement detection device, and control output of the control piston by using displacement detection value with displacement detection value feedback input to the control valve. In the swash plate type piston pump, the displacement detection device has a magnetostrictive displacement sensor installed in the control piston, detects electric strain changing according to movement quantity of the control piston, inputs displacement detection signal of the magnetostrictive displacement sensor 5 to the control valve through a control device 6, and defines the same as a displacement detection value of the control piston.
