PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber-reinforced resin composition which exhibits excellent friction/abrasion characteristic, does not require the surface treatment of PPS fiber woven fabric and exhibits satisfactory adhesion to a phenol resin. SOLUTION: The fiber-reinforced resin composition for the sliding member is obtained by impregnating the polyester fiber woven fabric with a resol-type phenol resin synthesized from phenols containing 50-100 mol% of bisphenol A and formaldehydes by using amines as a catalyst, having a number-average molecular weight Mn of 500-1,000, as measured by the gel permeation chromatography, and having a dispersion degree Mw/Mn as a ratio of a weight-average molecular weight Mw to a number-average molecular weight Mn of 2.5-15. Alternatively, a fiber-reinforced resin composition for sliding member is obtained by impregnating PPS fiber woven fabric with the resol-type phenol resin and PTFE.
