PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet laminating apparatus and method, in which a request in the dimensional accuracy of a sealing part is not high, a wear of a seal member can hardly occur, and the handling of a sheet material is easy. SOLUTION: In the sheet laminating apparatus 1, the sheet material is sandwiched between the pressing surfaces of a sealing side member 20 provided with the seal member 24 and a sealed side member 30 provided with a sealing surface 312 with which the seal member 24 contacts, and the sheet material S is subjected to a thermal compression bond in a reduced-pressure atmosphere or pressurized atmosphere. The seal member 24 projects from a groove 213 formed on the sealing side member 20 toward the sealed side member 30 and can form an airtight chamber contacting with the sealing surface 312 of the sealed side member 30 or the sheet material S on the sealing surface. The sealed side member 30 is provided with the sealing surface 312 and the pressing surface 311 on the same flat surface, and a ventilation port 217 which can communicate with the air tight chamber is provided on the sealing side member 20.
