Provided is a medium treating device comprising hairbrush rollers (40A and 40B) having hairs implanted on their surfaces. Between the hairbrush rollers (40A and 40B) and the reading faces of scanners (30A and 30B), there are formed clearances for allowing the passage of a medium (2). When transfer rollers (20A and 20B) transfer the medium (2) in a medium direction, the hairbrush rollers (40A and 40B) guide the medium (2) while regulating the face of the medium (2) on the side opposite to the read face.
