Provided is a headrest position adjusting device comprising an electrostatic capacity sensor unit and a drive motor unit. The electrostatic capacity sensor unit includes a plurality of detection electrodes and a detection circuit. The individual detection electrodes are formed in a rectangular strip shape having a longitudinal direction in a widthwise direction intersecting the height direction of the front side of a headrest, and are so arranged as juxtaposed in a widthwise direction along the height direction. The detection circuit has electrostatic capacity detecting circuits connected in a one-to-one relation to the individual detection electrodes, and a calculation processing circuit. The drive motor unit has a motor drive circuit and a drive motor. Even if the headrest is in the initial state, the estimated center position of a head in the height direction can be acquired, even if the detection circuit detects the neck and the shoulder of a human body with the detection signals of the individual detection electrodes. Thus, it is possible to perform highly precise position adjustments for a short time period.
