<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality detection method of an air-fuel ratio sensor capable of detecting a sensor abnormality in any gas atmosphere. <P>SOLUTION: Potentials of wiring 41, 42 respectively connected to porous electrodes provided on an electromotive cell 24 are measured. Thereby, even when the potential of either one of the porous electrodes of the electromotive cell 24 fluctuates, abnormality of the wiring 41, 42 including such potential fluctuation, can be detected. Since the wiring 42 is also connected to one porous electrode of a pump cell 14, abnormality of a wiring 43 connected to another porous electrode of the pump cell 14 through the pump cell 14 can be detected by measuring the potential of the wiring 42. Therefore, abnormality of the wiring 41, 42, 43 can be respectively detected without measuring current Ip of the pump cell 14 sensitive to gas atmosphere around a sensor element 10, thus sensor abnormality can be detected in any gas atmosphere. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
