PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auto focus system for preventing a menu image superimposed and displayed on a photographed video image from disturbing photographing work by allowing an operator to manually turn off the menu image or automatically turing off the menu image, when it is determined that the menu image is unnecessary, when it is constituted so that an operation (instruction) on the control of an AF frame is performed by using a display means (display) with a touch panel on which the photographed video image and the AF frame are displayed. SOLUTION: In the screen 40a of a liquid crystal display with a touch panel on which operation on the AF frame can be performed, the menu image comprising various buttons 300 to 312 for instructing the control mode of the AF frame, the start and stop of automatic tracking, etc. is superimposed and displayed on the photographed video image. On the other hand, on the screen 40a, a menu display on and off button 314 is displayed, and when the button 314 is tap-operated, the menu image can be turned on and off.
