A take-up pipe (1) is placed along the upper edge of a building window, and both ends of the pipe are individually rotatably supported by side brackets (2R). The upper end of the screen, having a weight bar attached to its lower end, is fixed to the take-up pipe, and the take-up pipe is rotated by a motor (5) in the normal and reverse directions to wind up and wind down the screen. A light receiving section (27) for receiving pulse signal light emitted from a remote controller is attached to either one of the side brackets. The light receiving section is attached such that the direction of light reception is symmetric about a vertical line drawn downward and is changeable to two directions having different phases. The screen can be operated by the remote controller independent of the type of installation of an electric roll screen, and this effectively enhances convenience.
