Provided are porous ceramic grains, which are most suitable for gardening decoration and can be placed around garden trees or on the soil in pots and the like, and a method of producing the same. Porous ceramic grains for gardening decoration characterized by comprising a core part, which is made of a porous ceramic material obtained by calcining a clay-containing composition, and a coating layer which is made of a porous ceramic material obtained by calcining a second clay-containing composition, coats the preceding core part, and has a larger bulk specific gravity than the core part and a smaller water absorption rate than the core part.
