<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical amplifier and an optical reception module by which abrupt change in power level of received light can be compensated, and the occurrence state of noise light substantially does not change even if a functional component has variation in optical loss or the like. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical reception module for single wavelength disposed in front of a receiver 25, the functional component 22 and a variable optical attenuator 23A are arranged on an optical path between front-stage and rear-stage optical amplification portions, and the optical attenuation amount of the variable optical attenuator 23A is brought under feedback control at a relatively slow speed so that the gain of the rear-stage optical amplification portion performing a high-speed ALC (Automatic Level Control) operation becomes constant, thereby compensating individual variation in optical loss that the functional component 22 has. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
