<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder capable of maintaining high-speed conveyance of a recording medium, capable of restraining a printing position from being shifted, and capable of correcting a conveying-directional change of resolution, to form an image faithful to an image data, and a control method therefor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Fig.4A indicates a period λ of conveyance information 8a when a conveyance driving part 7 is manufactured as designed, under the condition where the conveyance driving part 7 is rotated at a constant speed, Fig.4B indicates the longest period λ1 and the shortest period λ2 of conveyance information 8b when a rotation period is dispersed by the eccentricity or the like of a radius of the conveyance driving part 7, Fig.4C indicates a shooting deviation restraining part output signal 35a when the conveyance information 8b is corrected to be matched to the longest period λ1 of the conveyance information 8b, based on Δλ a correction value, Fig.4D indicates a period λ1*1/N of a phase synchronization circuit output signal 38a with the Fig.4C multiplied according to a set value N of a 1/N divider 34, and Fig.4E indicates a period λ1*M/N of a 1/M divider output 33a with the Fig.4D divided by a set value M of a longitudinal magnification setting part 33.
