PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insert unit for reinforcing natural ground, which enables a consolidation material to be properly infiltrated into the surrounding natural ground by reducing the amount of the consolidation material injected into a reinforcing pipe in a method for reinforcing the natural ground in tunnel forepiling work, face reinforcing work, etc., particularly, when the natural ground is reinforced by injecting the consolidation material into the reinforcing pipe driven into the natural ground and the natural ground on its periphery; and to provide the method for reinforcing the natural ground by using the insert unit. SOLUTION: This insert unit 1 for reinforcing the natural ground is characterized in that bag bodies 2a and 2b, the diameters of which can be enlarged, a water-absorbing polymer P housed in the bag body, water supply pipes 3a and 3b for supplying water into the bag body, and injection pipes 4a-4c for injecting the consolidation material into the reinforcing pipe outside the bag body are integrally assembled in such a manner as to be capable of being collectively inserted into the reinforcing pipe 10. Additionally, the method for reinforcing the natural ground is characterized in that the consolidation material is injected into the reinforcing pipe in a state in which the bag body is expanded by inserting the insert unit 1 into the reinforcing pipe.
