<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of easily eliminating paper jam occurring in a paper conveying passage. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This paper conveying device includes: a conveying roller for conveying paper in a predetermined conveying direction; a first conveying guide which has a first lower guide 331 positioned on one side of a paper conveying path through which the paper is conveyed; a first upper guide 332 positioned on the other side of the paper conveying path and rotated to open the paper conveying path, and skew rollers (36, 39) for conveying the paper in the direction diagonal to the conveying direction and which can move in the direction orthogonal to the conveying direction; and a second conveying guide which has a second lower guide 341 positioned on one side of the paper conveying path and a second upper guide 342 connected to the first upper guide 332 and rotated to open the paper conveying path together with the first upper guide 332, arranged parallel to the first conveying guide in the direction orthogonal to the conveying direction, and guides the paper conveyed.
