PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid body discharging device and a liquid body discharging method that can restrain the characteristic of a liquid body varying with the residence time in the passage of the liquid body which is different at each discharge head. SOLUTION: The liquid body discharging device includes a nozzle train in which discharge nozzles that discharge the liquid body are arranged and a moving means for relatively moving a substrate to which the liquid body is applied and the nozzle train. The liquid body discharging device moves relatively the nozzle train and the substrate and applies the liquid body to the substrate by selectively discharging it from the discharge nozzles. The liquid body discharging device is equipped with a direction switching means for changing the direction of the substrate in the direction of the substrate face against the direction of the relative movement accompanied by liquid body discharge. In addition, the liquid body discharging device is further equipped with a direction determining means for determining the direction of the substrate. The direction determining means selects the direction of each substrate from a plurality of predetermined directions, while the direction switching means changes the direction of the substrate to the selected predetermined direction.
