A method of generation and detection of a synchronization signal for use in a telecommunication system is disclosed by the present disclosure. According to the present disclosure, the synchronization signal is generated by performing a circular time shift on a centrally symmetric signal, and the circular time shift is performed so that the synchronization signal is centrally asymmetric. The detection of the synchronization signal is then performed by utilizing the symmetries of the synchronization signal to reduce computation complexity of the detection.
