A chair comprises a backrest (5) having a lumbar support projecting part (5a), a horizontal forward seat (10), a backward seat (11) so pivotally supported as to be swingable downward relative to the forward seat (10), a leg support (8) pivotally supported at the front end of the forward seat (10), links (21, 23) for so changing the positional relation between the rear end of the backward seat (11) and the lower end of the backrest (5) that the distance between the lumbar support projecting part (5a) and the backward seat (11) is gradually reduced (t2) from the standing position to the tilted position thereof as the backrest (5) is tilted backward, and a connection link (37) for connecting the lower end of the backrest (5) and the portion of the leg support (8) lower than the upper end thereof to each other and allowing the leg support (8) to swing forward gradually as the backrest (5) is tilted backward.
