Wireless communications with wireless tag circuit elements are speedily and efficiently performed.  A wireless tag communication system (RS) can communicate with a plurality of types of wireless tag circuit elements (To) each of which has an IC circuit unit (150) for storing information and further has a tag antenna (151) for transmitting/receiving information and which are different in communication formats from one another and hence have no communication compatibility with one another.  The wireless tag communication system (RS), which has a communication antenna (101) for performing wireless communications with the wireless tag circuit elements (To), uses a switching order and an occurrence frequency, which are in accordance with the number of actual reads for each of a plurality of previously used communication formats, to sequentially switch the plurality of communication formats, and further uses the sequentially switched communication formats to perform acquisition processes that attempt to acquire information from the wireless tag circuit elements (To) through wireless communications.
