PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of control gains required for gearshift control in a toroidal-type continuously variable transmission. SOLUTION: A gearshift controller, which includes power rollers 2 arranged between an input disk 1 and an output disk 1 and flow rate control valves 9, 10, which cause gearshift by inclining and rotating the power rollers 2 by moving the power rollers 2 with hydraulic servo pistons 5, 6 and control an oil quantity supplied to and discharged from the hydraulic servo pistons 5, 6 according to a current value, controls the current value based on a deviation between the target position and actual position of the power rollers 2 and a control gain. The controller further includes a flow rate command value calculation means 14, which calculates a flow rate command value using the control gain Kx predetermined according to input revolutions, and a current value calculation means 18, which calculates a current value using the relationship calculated in advance between the oil quantity and the current value and based on the flow rate command value calculated by the flow rate command value calculation means 14.
