PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation method for a ship and a navigation device for the ship, capable of guiding a return-to-port start time corresponding to a sunset time, and guiding a route safely to a port to be returned. SOLUTION: In the method, the position of a port to be returned by the ship is stored, and the present position of the ship is calculated, and the sunset time is acquired. Then, a distance and a required time from the present position to the port are calculated, and the return-to-port start time for starting return to the port is calculated based on the required time and the sunset time, and it is determined whether a present time becomes equal to the return-to-port start time or not, and when becoming equal, it is guided that the return-to-port start time has come.
