PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ballpoint pen refill by which the color of an ink held in an ink holding tube can be visible from outside with a simple structure in the ballpoint pen refill for attaching a transparent or translucent protecting film covering at least a ball to the distal end part of a ballpoint pen chip. SOLUTION: The ballpoint pen refill is constituted by directly filling the inside of the ink holding tube with the ink for the ballpoint pen and attaching the ballpoint pen chip holding the ball in the distal end part of the ink holding tube such that the ball can freely rotate directly or indirectly via a chip holder and is characterized by attaching the transparent or translucent protecting resin film covering at least the ball to the distal end part of the ballpoint pen chip and forming a layer of the ink for the ballpoint pen between the ball and the protecting resin film.
