PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of holding a measuring instrument suitable of long-term measurement in a drilling hole while capable of collecting the measuring instrument after measurement. SOLUTION: A measuring instrument holding tool 10 includes: a tool body 20 having an opening 20A on the side; a pedestal section 30 to which the measuring instrument 1 is mounted while the pedestal section is disposed at a position in contact with an opening 20A of a tool body 20; a spring member 60 for pressing the pedestal section 30 toward the opening 20A; a pair of air pressure cylinders 40, where a rod 41 retreats in a direction separated from the pedestal section 30 when air pressure is supplied; and a connection member 50 of whose both ends are rotatably connected to the rod 41 and the pedestal section 30. By the press of the spring member 60, the measuring instrument 1 usually projects from the opening 20A. When installing and removing the measuring instrument 1, by supplying air pressure to the air pressure cylinder 40, the rod 41 attracts the pedestal section 30 in a direction separated from the opening 20A via the connection member 50, and the measuring instrument 1 is stored in the tool body 20.
