PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fix an assist device including a forceps channel in relation to a nasal endoscope in a proper position. SOLUTION: An endoscope system includes a nasal endoscope 11 having an insertion portion for entry in one external nostril, and an assist device 12 for use in combination with the nasal endoscope. The assist device 12 has an insertion portion for entry in the other external nostril. The insertion portion of the assist device 12 includes the forceps channel having a greater inner diameter than the forceps channel of the endoscope 11. The insertion portions each have a retaining device for retaining the distal portion on each other removably. The retaining device retains the distal portion of the insertion portion of the assist device 12 to cause a distal end surface of the assist device 12 to contact a peripheral part lower than a horizontal line passing a center point of an imaging window 55, especially a dotted area. The assist device reliably prevents the problems that a shadow may occur in an image of an object with the treatment instrument exposed from the forceps channel of the assist device 12, and also white smear may occur in the image with light reflected by the treatment instrument.
