PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymeric actuator which produces a large variation and a driving force, using a simple structure. SOLUTION: A first polymeric sheet 20 and a second polymeric sheet 30 are set side by side in restriction members 15a, 15b. The first polymeric sheet at one side is formed into a shape horizontally symmetrical to a virtual center line Oa-Oa, while the second polymeric sheet 30 at the other side is formed into a shape which is not horizontally symmetric to a virtual center line of Ob-Ob. Application of predetermined electric field to both polymeric sheets 20, 30 causes the free end 22 of the first polymeric sheet 20 horizontally symmetric at one side to be bent and deformed in the direction of Z1. Both bending deformation in the direction of Z1 and torsional deformation occur simultaneously, in the free end 32 of the second polymeric sheet 30 which is not horizontally symmetric at the other side. The free end 32 turns outside the curved surface of the first polymeric sheet 20, to support the outer surface of the first polymeric sheet 20 in the direction of Z1.
