摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reveal a mechanism of drop of the holding voltage of liquid crystal cells; to provide a method for evaluating reliability of a liquid crystal cell by evaluating reduction in VHR of the liquid crystal cell; and to provide a liquid crystal cell preventing drop of the holding voltage of the liquid crystal cell. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Attenuation in holding voltage of a liquid crystal cell having a liquid crystal layer held by alignment films is analyzed by using a specific expression after a pulse voltage is applied to the liquid crystal cell. Materials for alignment films 11, 21 are selected so that a separation energy determined by the analysis becomes 0.09 eV or less. A liquid crystal cell 1 satisfies the condition of the separation energy by using a cyclic compound 42 having an ion including function in the alignment films 11, 21.
