The invention relates to a locking device for securing a displaceable motor vehicle component which can be moved in relation to a motor vehicle structure and which can be secured by means of the locking device in a respective position of rest which is reached through previous displacement in a displacement range, having at least a first frictional element and at least a second frictional element which is moved in relation to the first frictional element when the motor vehicle component is displaced, and in this context can slide along the first frictional element under sliding friction conditions, and in a respective position of rest of the motor vehicle component said frictional element bears on a frictional face against a frictional face of the first frictional element under static friction conditions. In this context, an additional fluid medium (Z) is provided which can be placed between the frictional faces (10, 20) of frictional elements (1, 2) when there is a relative movement between said frictional elements (1, 2).
