HYDROPHOBIC MAGNETITE PARTICLE POWDER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetite particle powder which is treated so effectively that a silane compound functions and has well balanced properties such as high hydrophobicity and excellent dispersity to organic solvents, particularly the one suitable for a magnetic single component chemical toner, and a method for producing the same.

SOLUTION: The hydrophobic magnetite particle powder comprises a magnetite particle powder hydrophobized by a silane compound whose particle surface is composed of RSiX3(R: 1-18C alkyl; X: methoxy or ethoxy). The silane compound is at least one of an alkyl group having ≤3 carbons in R and alkyl group having ≥4 carbons in R.
