<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a translucent resin composite which is produced by using a cellulose derivative as a filler and a resin having a refractive index of ≥1.50 and to provide an optical element obtained by using the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The translucent resin composite is obtained by incorporating a cellulose derivative 1, obtained by substituting a group having an aromatic ring for a part or all of hydrogen atoms of OH groups of cellulose, into a translucent resin 2.
