<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader where a change of temperature does not change positions of imaging elements. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the image reader where a circuit board 9 for holding an imaging element 8 and an image forming lens 7 for forming an image of light from an original to the imaging element 8 are fixed on a base member 10, the circuit board 9 includes slits 13 formed between a part 9a for holding the imaging element 8 and a part 9b fixed onto the base member. Preferably, the circuit board 9 is fixed onto the base member 10 at two places, the two slits 13 are formed in parallel to each other, the slits 13 have one ends open, and the length of their total extension is longer than that in a direction in which the slit 13 of the circuit board 9 is extended.
