<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect a laterally lying state, and also to reduce the disadvantage of a user as much as possible even when the laterally lying state is not detected. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A sleeping state evaluation system includes: the first body motion sensor wherein a space over bedding is a detection object; the second body motion sensor wherein the space to be extended outward from the outer circumference of the bedding is the detection object; and an evaluating means for evaluating the moving state and sleeping state of a sleeping person, based on the detection results of the first and second body motion sensors. The evaluating means determines the bedding-in motion of the sleeping person when the state is changed from the one, where the first and second body motion sensors do not detect a body motion, into the one, where the first and second body motion sensors substantially simultaneously detect the body motion. The first body motion sensor has the first relatively larger threshold and the second relatively smaller threshold. Determination is made by whether a value reaches the first threshold or the non-detection state of the second body motion sensor continues for a fixed time or more in a state where a value reaches the second threshold but does not reach the first threshold, etc. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
