PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door opening assist device returning a member for pushing a door in an opening direction to an original state without using a motor, and thus dispensing with power distribution work in its construction. SOLUTION: The door opening assist device includes a pushing arm 10 provided on a door frame 3 to impart an opening directional force to a door 1 up to an initial opening angle; a coil spring 11 which urges the push arm 10 toward a pushing position by a force accumulated therein; link mechanism parts 18 and 19 configured to return the pushing arm 10, when opening the door beyond the initial opening angle, to a housing position by interlocking the pushing arm 10 with the rotational operation of the door 1 and to cause the coil spring 11 to store the force; and lock mechanism parts 30 and 31 configured to lock the push arm 10 returned to the housing position, and to release the lock when the door 1 is fully opened and held by the door frame 3.
