摘要 <p>This invention enables to improve users' operability in case such that data transmission/reception is wirelessly performed within a proximate area.  A short distance wireless communication circuit (10) included in a terminal (1A) can perform changing between a normal mode and a proximate mode: a normal mode in which OFDM communication is performed and a proximate mode in which spread spectrum communication is performed within a possible communication distance shorter than that of the normal mode.  A control unit (13) uses the short distance wireless communication circuit (10), which has been set in the normal mode, to execute, along with a terminal (1B) that is the other end of communication, a process of preparation for starting data transmission/reception to/from the terminal (1B) by use of the proximate distance mode.  The control unit (13) uses, as an index, a measured value of communication quality, which is correlated to the communication distance from the terminal (1B), to determine whether the data transmission/reception to/from the terminal (1B) by use of the short distance mode is possible.  If it is determined that the transmission/reception in the proximate mode is possible, the control unit (13) uses the short distance wireless communication circuit (10), which has been set in the proximate mode, to start the data transmission/reception to/from the terminal (1B) as a result from the process of preparation executed by use of the normal mode.</p>
