<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery for improving cycle characteristics and swelling characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The battery includes a cathode 21, an anode 22 and electrolyte solution, as well as a separator 23 with the electrolyte solution impregnated and fitted between the cathode 21 and the anode 22. The anode 22 includes an anode current collector 22A and an anode active material layer 22B installed on that 22A, wherein the anode active material layer 22B includes a plurality of anode active material particles containing silicon, and a metal material having a metal element not being alloyed with an electrode reactive material.
