PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, method and program, and a recording medium, by which the high-speed transfer of image data to an image reception side from an image transmission side is made appropriate. SOLUTION: A digital compound device 1 adds a START symbol and an END symbol to a head and an end of line image data by serializers 1100C to 1100K, transfers data to LD controllers 1210C to 1210K, determines validity/invalidity of the line image data on the basis of the START symbol and the END symbol by the LD controllers 1210C to 1210K, executes image processing of valid line image data with the number of reference processing lines as a reference image processing unit, and notifies the serializers 1100c to 1100K of transfer errors with respect to invalid line image data.
