PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a tri-metal tetraoxide, whose production steps are simplified. SOLUTION: The method comprises a first step of producing a metal oxide dispersion liquid from a cobalt oxide salt aqueous solution by the neutralization or oxidation reaction, a second step of filtering and washing the cobalt oxide dispersion liquid obtained in the first step, and a third step of dispersing and drying the cobalt oxide dispersion liquid filtered and washed in the second step in a high-temperature air in a temperature range of converting the dispersion liquid to tricobalt tetraoxide.
