PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head unit with an exhaust mechanism attaining the miniaturization of an apparatus while exhausting air accumulated in the head unit. SOLUTION: The exhaust mechanism 27 includes an air storage part 38 temporarily storing air in ink; a valve unit 80 opening/closing an exhaust passage leading to the outside from the air storage part 38; and a film 23 deformed according to pressure in the exhaust passage. The film 23 is deformed by negative pressure generated in the exhaust passage to open a valve part 85 of the valve unit 80 and to exhaust air in the air storage part 38 to the outside through the exhaust passage.
