PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure pressing force even if a brush wears out, and suppress the unnecessary wear of the brush in a rotary electric machine. SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine includes: a leaf spring 42, which works as a biasing means for giving the brush 34 biasing force in its pressing direction, and guide pins 44 and 46, both serving integratedly as a pressing mechanism 40, which gives the pressing force of the brush 34 to a slip ring 30; guide groove members 50 and 70, which have mobile profile grooves that are predetermined according to the amount of wear of the brush 34 and guide pins 44 and 46; and a mobile mechanism 80, which rotates the guide groove members 50 and 70 in its circumferential direction to a rotating shaft 22. The mobile mechanism 80 can also perform shift drive, based on the temperature cycle of the element of the rotary electric machine or the element of a system whereon the rotary electric machine is mounted.
