<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonograph which can simply detect the dislocation of an ultrasonic probe during scanning. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The ultrasonograph 1 generates reference tomogram data in a plurality of time phases in a reference cross-section of an intracorporeal region while referring to the varying condition of the intracorporeal region periodically varying and stores the reference tomogram data corresponding to the time phases. The ultrasonograph 1 sequentially generates tomogram data in a plurality of cross-sections including the reference cross-section. At that time, the ultrasonograph 1 identifies the time phase of the intracorporeal region when the reference cross-section is ultrasonically scanned on the basis of the varying condition of the intracorporeal region and chooses reference tomogram data corresponding to an identified time phase from among a plurality of stored reference tomogram data. The ultrasonograph 1 computes the value of a correlation between the tomogram data of the reference cross-section and the chosen reference tomogram data and presents information concerning the dislocation of the ultrasonic probe 2 on the basis of the correlation value.
